One day, Mama and Papa bought a big new refrigerator. It came in the biggest box I had ever seen, and three big men carried it up the stairs to our kitchen. When the shiny white refrigerator was taken out of the box, our phone rang and Papa answered it. He talked to his agent while Mama directed the men to where to install the big white fridge. I sniffed an orange fish-shaped logo on the empty big brown box discarded on the floor. Then I jumped in. Inside, the box was warm and comfortable. I curled up, closed my eyes, and listened to Papa talking about photographing a movie stars house in Bel Air, California. He described a luxury house with many elegant rooms, swimming pools, and beautiful flower gardens with statues and fountains. It sounded so beautiful that I could smell the pink roses in the garden.
I started to enjoy the fantasy of being in this extraordinary house. . . (To be continued in the book, "Happy Birthday, the Cat")
